Mummy Dogs and Orange Pumpkins Recipes

Little Lady had her fall party at school today. We made these adorably fun Mummy Dogs and Orange Pumpkins. This recipe is so easy to make and LOTS of fun.

Mummy Dogs
  • Hotdogs
  • Crescent rolls
  • Mustard or Ketchup (for eyes and dipping)

1. Using a pizza cutter, slice the crescent roll dough into thin strips.

2. Wrap the strips around each hot dog. make sure you leave a little space for the 'eyes'.

3. Bake at 350° in preheated oven until browned (approximately 12 min. depending on the greasiness of the hot dogs)

4. Use mustard or ketchup to add 'eyes' to each hot dog.

Orange Pumpkins
(Okay, technically "Clementine Pumpkins")

  • Clementines
  • Celery Tips

1. Peal clementines
2. Insert celery tips. Simple, hu?

Little Lady's class had so much fun with these. It was an instant hit. What sort of goodies are you making for Halloween this year?

Review and Giveaway: Caitlin's Contentment

Book 1 of the Dare Dreamers Series

I had the wonderful opportunity this week to review the newest book from rising author Liz Taylor. Caitlin's Contentment is an amazing story about a self-made princess who learns just how bad things can get when she's no longer content with what she has and starts selfishly wishing for more. This book is a great chapter book geared towards Girls AND Boys ages 8 and up.

Rosey Posey got a hold of the book before I was done with it, and I wasn't sure I was going to get it back. LOL. She read it from cover to cover in one (long) sitting. While it was a quick read for her (being 13), she still loved it immensely. Her favorite part was when Caitlin faced the dragon. My favorite part was the amazing story telling when Caitlin's new world is being created by the Artist. The gentle character lessons so cleverly intertwined into the book leaves even the adults feeling encouraged, loved, and ready to grow!

In Catlin's Contentment Caitlin has it good. She has a home, plenty of food, and family and friends who love her. But that just doesn't seem to be enough for her! She dreams of having a more exciting and glamorous life. Join her on an adventure where she learns that getting everything she wants doesn't always turn out the way she imagined it, and that she can learn contentment even in the toughest times.

This is only Volume 1 of the long awaited Dare Dreamers Character Building Adventures series.
You can order your own copy HERE.

I'm so excited to be offering an
Exclusive Autographed First Edition of
Caitlin's Contentment!!

Pumpkin Patch 2015

I can't believe it's finaly fall. The temps here in the south are also finally FEELING like fall. So, This past week we had to go pick out our pumpkins.

It feels like only yesterday we were here and little lady could hardly stand.

Now, she's big enough to pull the wagon...

All by herself. Just look at that sassy expression!

Bubee is getting HUGE too. He ended up picking out the biggest pumpkin we got.

At 13, Rosey Posey is officially a teen! Ironically, she picked the smallest pumpkin: said it was easy to paint.

Little Lady's pumpkin almost didn't make it home as much as she tossed it around.

I picked up 5 pumpkins to decorate myself, so keep an eye out for all the fun DIY posts coming up!

Monster Doughnuts

I've seen this idea all over Pinterest (I think the first place I saw it was Thrifty Fun) and knew I just HAD to make some. This past week I've been filling in at Little Lady's school and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share the fun!

These guys are so simple to make, but I have a couple of tips:

1. Most doughnuts are actually oval, not round. Try to put the teeth in such a way that they optimally fit. You can see that mine went every which way.
2. Just push the 'eyes' in. I love when one goes in at a different angel than the other, then you get a silly cross-eyed monster.

3. Don't use HOT doughnuts. I LOVE when the 'Hot' sign is lit at my local Krispy Kream. However, it's best to let the doughnuts cool (maybe even over night) to avoid the teeth just ripping though the doughnut and the glaze making your monster look like he need some lotion. :P

4. Give your doughnuts a cute display. I used sharpies to add a cute message and pumpkin.

Needless to say these guys didn't last very long ;) They were a LOT of fun!

Fun Fall Candy Corn Garland

I love Candy Corn! I mean I really LOVE Candy Corn. Probably why I make things like these Candy Corn Vases. This year I decided to add to my fall decor with this cute candy corn garland. This is so simple you can use my cut files or hand cut your own ;)

1.Cut out 6-10 of each color; depending on how long you want your garland. If you hand cut the shapes, just use a hole punch for the holes.

2. Thread the twine through the three colors as shown below.

3. Keep adding until it's as long as you like. No need to glue them together: the twine holds them perfectly.

4. Add to your fall display and enjoy!!
