Radish Top Soup Recipe

Ahh! Summer! And all the yummieness that comes with it! My garden is already bursting with harvest. The kids favorite: Radishes! Radishes grow and are ready for harvest usually in about 2-3 weeks.

There is so much plant for just the little root, that I wanted to find a way to utilize all the plant especially the greens. So a few years ago I found this recipe and tweaked it to our liking. Now Radish Top Soup marks the start of our summer harvest!

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 2 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 4 cups raw radish greens
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 5 radishes, sliced
  • Sour Cream (optional)
  • Bread (optional)
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan.

2. Saute the onions till clear.

3. Add potatoes and greens. Coat well with butter.

4. Add Chicken Broth

5. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 min.

6. Let cool a little (About 5-10 min) then mix in blender.

7. Return to saucepan, add cream, heat to desired temperature.

8. Garnish with Sour Cream and sliced radishes. Enjoy with bread!

This recipe makes about 6 servings. It's fairly easy and utilizes all of the plant. Perfect for a yummy dinner fresh from the garden. Radishes can be grown in deep containers and are some of the easiest, quickest, home garden plants to start with. Enjoy!!
