I love getting the house ready for Thanksgiving. Each year I like to add a new small decoration. This year I was inspired by some jars and mod podge I found. This simple DIY craft can really be a great focal point for your mantle or shelves.
- Jars (you can use mason jars, baby food jars, or just about any size or shape of jar you'd like)
- Mod Podge
- Burlap
- Fall Leaves
- Metallic Marker
- Fall Filler
- Brush
- Sharpie
- Scissors
Jar #1
2. Use Mod Podge to glue the start of the burlap down.
3. Add Mod Podge and work your way around the jar.
4. Slowly wrap around your jar untill you have it all covered.
5. Use the Mod Podge to seal the end of the burlap. The Mod Podge will dry clear.
6. Use the metallic marker to write or draw on the lid. I wrote "Fall" on mine.
Jar #2
1. Fill your second jar with acrylic fall filler.2. Trace the lid onto the burlap.
3. Cut out the burlap.
4. Cover the lid with
5. Apply the burlap and seal the edges with Mod Podge
Jar #3
1. If your leaf has a plastic backing, remove it.2. Using a spot of Mod Podge attach the leaf to the jar. (I original tried to Mod Podge the whole leaf down, but found that the texture of the leaf would not stay on the smooth jar long enough for the Mod Podge to dry. I found this worked better.)
3. Let it dry!
These 3 little guys look amazing added to any fall display. You can even add a tea light to them for some added depth. I think the simple leaf one is my favorite. Which one do you like?
